About
This publication exists for one reason: practitioners deserve better support after they graduate.
Most nutrition programs, health coaching certifications, and herbalism schools do an excellent job of teaching foundational knowledge. But graduation is where the real learning begins — and too often, it's where the support ends.
You're left navigating scope of practice questions alone. Building a client base without a roadmap. Making clinical decisions without a mentor to call. The gap between knowing the science and practicing with confidence is wide, and most practitioners feel it acutely in their first few years.
Why We Publish
The Holistic Consulting Institute was founded on the belief that practitioner development is a continuum — not a single event. Our residency programs provide structured mentorship for nutrition professionals and herbalists at every stage of their careers.
This publication is an extension of that mission. Every article we write is designed to do what a good mentor does: give you clarity on the questions that keep you stuck, offer evidence-informed frameworks you can use immediately, and help you grow into the practitioner you trained to become.
We don't publish content for clicks or algorithmic reach. We publish because practitioners who feel confident and well-supported do better work — and their clients benefit.
What You'll Find Here
Our articles are written by clinical educators with decades of combined experience in nutrition, herbalism, and integrative health practice. Topics include:
Scope of practice clarity — Understanding what you can and can't do as a nutrition professional, and how to communicate your role confidently to clients and other providers.
Practice-building strategies — Practical, ethical approaches to getting clients, structuring your business, and building a sustainable practice without resorting to hype or hustle culture.
Clinical herbalism foundations — Evidence-informed perspectives on integrating herbal knowledge into nutrition practice, including safety considerations and professional boundaries.
Professional development — From BCHN preparation to overcoming imposter syndrome, we address the real challenges practitioners face as they grow.
Who This Is For
Whether you just finished your nutrition program and are wondering what comes next, you're a few years into practice and looking for more structure and credibility, or you're an experienced clinician ready to specialize — you'll find something here that meets you where you are.
We write for practitioners who take their work seriously, value evidence over trends, and believe that continuous learning is part of the job — not optional.
